Music

The music program at P.S. 176Q is comprised of three programs; “Music and the Brain”, “Carnegie Hall Link-Up”, and “Little Kids Rock”. Our goal is to provide a quality music education which in turn develops young minds and builds character. In the process, students discover the importance of music in our society. They are encouraged to push the boundaries to become musicians who are critical thinkers while fostering creativity.

Visual Arts

The P.S. 176 Visual Arts program is designed to teach all students the basic elements and principles of art. Students are introduced to a variety of art techniques and artists to help foster a love and appreciation of the arts.

Contemporary Dance

This year, Ms. Whittaker will serve as the creative movement/contemporary dance teacher.  Students will learn technical terminology as well as formal dance movement.  They will be exposed to various dance forms through movement, videos and live performances.  This program will provide an opportunity for students to increase physical activity, encourage respect and foster a love for various forms of dance.  Students are expected to dress in their P.S. 176Q gym uniforms on days they are schedule for dance instruction.
